RUMI
Poet
of the Heart
Narration by
Debra Winger (Includes Bonus Tracks)
"I
am so small I can barely be seen.
How can this great love be inside me?
Look at your eyes. They are small,
but they see enormous things."
-
Rumi
Jelaluddin Rumi was
born in 1207 and by the age of thirty-seven he had
become a famous scholar and popular teacher. His
life changed forever when he met the powerful
wandering dervish, Shams of Tabriz. Rumi said,
"What
I had thought of before as God, I met today in a
human being." An
extraordinary friendship between the two men
unfolded, and when Shams mysteriously disappeared,
Rumi experienced a transformation from scholar to
mystical poet. Seven hundred years later, Rumi is
the best-selling poet in America.
This beautiful video tells Rumi's story and
includes much of his poetry. It also presents
Coleman Barks, the preeminent contemporary
translator of Rumi's poetry, in live performances
and intimate conversation. Joining him to celebrate
the joyous spiritual passion of Rumi's poetry are
Robert Bly, Deepak Chopra, Michael Meade, Huston
Smith and others. Musical performances by oud
virtuoso Hamza El Din and singer Jai Uttal add to
this inspiring and compelling film.

THE
MESSAGE OF THE
TIBETANS 2
FILMS ON 1 DVD
FILM
1: Buddhism
FILM
2: Tantrism
By Arnaud
Desjardins
Arnaud Desjardins met His Holiness the Dalai Lama
for the first time in 1963 and gained his support
to shoot these two films. All the most revered
masters agreed to participate in the making of the
films: the Dalai Lama in person,Kyabdje Trijang
Rinpoche, Kyabdje Ling Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse
Rinpoche, Dudjom Rinpoche, the XVIth Gyalwa Karmapa
, Dugpa Tupse Rinpoche, Chatral Rinpoche, The Yogis
Abo Rinpoche and Lopon Sonam Zangpo, the Sakya Lama
Trizin, Tai Situ Rinpoche and Shamar Rinpoche still
adolescent, and many others eminent masters.
"I
am delighted to have been able to watch the English
version of The Message of the Tibetans,
which consists of a film shot by Arnaud Desjardins
in 1965 and 1967. It provides us with a living
document of some of the great masters then living
and also of children who as adults today have the
responsibility of carrying on the Tibetan
tradition. I myself was only thirty at the time and
like most of my compatriots had little experience
of the outside world. However, we were all
determined to work hard to preserve our unique
culture, particularly our rich Buddhist heritage.
Today, when we look back, we can note with
satisfaction the achievements we have made in
educating our young people and preserving our
cultural traditions and values at at time when they
are under threat of extinction in our homeland.
Tibetan culture, as this film shows, places great
importance to compassion and nonviolence. It is
because of these essential humane values that I
feel that we have a contribution to make to peace
in the world. So, the Tibetans' message is that it
is not the possession of wealth and weapons, but
whether you have patience, compassion and concern
for others - that is the source of peace and
happiness."

YOGA
FROM TIBET
Nangpe
Yoga
The Tibetan Yoga of Inner Development
Transmitted by Kalu Rinpoche (1905-1989) and
Presented by Lama Karta, Lama Zeupa, Lama Tashi
Nyima
"Many Westerners were asking for yoga exercises
according to the Tibetan tradition. I gave the
transmission of this yoga in a spirit of helping
all beings, as much on the contingent as on the
ultimate level. Its practises are based on my own
experiences and on the spiritual influence of the
Buddhas of the ten directions. May they be an
immense source of benefit and of happiness for all
the spiritual traditions of our world and for all
beings."
- Kalu Rinpoche
Ten chapters cover the postures associated to the
awakened state (Bodhicitta), worldly existence,
Liberation, Purification, Knowledge, the nadis,
etc...
In this comprehensive DVD, three yogi monks
disciples of Kalu Rinpoche (Lama Karta, Lama Zeupa,
Lama Tashi Nyima) are being filmed while practising
each posture step by step. The audio commentary
explains their meaning and describes how to apply
them. This yoga teaches symbolic gestures, the
experience of space and movement, breathing
exercises, visualization of the subtle channels as
well as mantras recitations. Several drawing add to
the explanations.
This yoga aims to be simple and accessible. By
synchrionizing body, speech and mind, its practice
can relieve sickness and suffering. It can
contribute to removing obstacles and thus helping
in opening the inner path where balance, awareness,
love and compassion can develop.
