CALL
OFF THE SEARCH
Freedom
Here and Now
A film by Jim Lemkin and David
Godman
"We already are That for which we are
seeking."
Poonjaji, a disciple of Ramana Maharshi,
realised the Self in the presence of his
Master in the 1940's. Since his
realisation, he has been communicating his
experience to those who come to see him.
This film is about freedom and
enlightenment. Not freedom at some future
date but, NOW. Harilal Poonja, also known
as Papaji, is not going to tell you how to
get it, he is going to tell you who and
what you really are. And if you listen to
him with a silent mind, you will discover:
You are freedom itself.
This DVD captures beautifully Poonjaji as
he discusses the nature of enlightenment
and the impediments which seem to obscure
it.
"Perfect awakening is possible here
and now for very human being, regardless
of background, practice or personal
circumstances. You are already free!
Anything gained afresh will be lost. What
is Eternal is always within you as the
Self, the unchanging substratum on which
your hopes and desires are reflected. Thus
the ever pure consciousness is concealed.
In this twinkle of any eye the Self will
reveal itself to itself once you have
decided to abandon the hope and desire,
the age old disease of the mind. Keep
quiet. Don't stir a single thought and
don't make any effort. In an instant you
will discover that you have been always
free."

WHO
IS THE WITNESS?
"Who is the witness of all this
activity? Who was the witness before the
creation of the universe, before the
beginning of the creator itself? Who is
now the witness of what is going on? And
who will be the witness after the
dissolution? What is this witness?"
H.W.L. Poonja begins the satsang
with an explanation about the witness,
which in India is called Brahman. It is
That which resides beyond time and cannot
be described. It is existence itself, the
one and only Reality which witnesses
itself. Afterwards, Poonjaji shares a
letter with everyone; then he talks about
understanding and stresses that to
understand is to think. The mind is that
which doubts being That, and once it is
quietened and silenced, what we actually
are becomes evident. A dialogue follows
about Buddha and the state of buddhahood,
which closes the teaching on Knowledge.
The talks with Papaji were daily.
Through his presence, his words, and his
powerful transmission, numerous people
have been able to become aware of the
impersonal Reality which underlies the
world and all experiences. This satsang
was recorded on September 4th, 1992 in the
hall, the Satsang Bhavan, where the daily
talks with Poonja were being held in the
90's.

BEHOLD
THE INNER FLAME
"How can you reject your own
Self? It's not possible. First of all, you
have to aspire to know It. It is always
shining within your own Heart and is not
located at any distant place. This is the
flame which has attracted the minds of
only a few people."
Poonjaji, who was a direct
disciple of Ramana Maharshi, starts this
satsang by explaining the three methods
which enable the contemplation of this
inner flame and what it represents. He
also talks about the price to pay to
liberate oneself completely: "The Master
is a beggar, He only begs; He begs for
your ego, nothing else. Very few people
will give this alms to this beggar." In
another exchange, and with a certain
humour, he guides a visitor through her
attachments towards the experience of
peace. The dialogue ends with a deep and
touching exchange about fear and about how
to get rid it.
The talks with Papaji were daily. Through
his presence, his words, and his powerful
transmission, numerous people have been
able to become aware of the impersonal
Reality which underlies the world and all
experiences. This satsang was recorded on
November 26th, 1992 in the hall, the

Poonja were being held in the 90's.

FREEDOM
FROM THE MIND
"You are already free. Then you
say , "Yes, but..." Where does this "but"
come from? "But" has come because you
still want to understand something, and
this cannot be understood... So, be free
of all concepts. Then, accept that "I am
free", "I am bliss". You have to do it in
this very moment, don't postpone."
In the first extract, Poonjaji
explains renunciation, which has to do
with the mind and ego. The questions asked
by the visitors bring about a deepening of
the topic. The effects of the satsang are
highlighted by a visitor who complains
that he loses its benefits when he leaves
Lucknow. So, Poonjaji stresses that old
habits can resurface but that tranquillity
and silence are most important. They are
what makes one strong in the face of
life's difficulties. In the last extract,
Papaji insists on the importance of not
trying to understand. The compilations
ends with a song in english about the work
of love.
Dialogues with Papaji, a direct disciple
of Ramana Maharshi, were daily. Through
his presence, his words, and his powerful
transmission, numerous people have been
able to become aware of the impersonal
Reality which underlies the world and all
experiences. These six extracts were
recorded in the hall where the dialogues
took place, the Satsang Bhavan. They are a
selection of exchanges on the Truth which
Poonja held in the 90's.

DEATH
AND ETERNITY
"How can we have liberation? We
have to see, we have to find That which is
changeless and immaculate within
ourselves. Our natural state of being is
love, knowledge, bliss and existence."
Fear of death and how to get rid
of it, since all human beings are afraid
of it, is the main topic of this
compilation of questions and answers.
Poonja explains that any concept,
including those of birth and death, is an
obstruction to awakening. He thus
encourages the seeker to aspire to the
Eternal which dwells in the cave of his
Heart. The rest of the DVD deals in
depth with the mind, attachment and
identification. In the void of a
quiet mind, there is neither mental
activity nor ego. Poonjaji also talks
about silence, because at the background
of the unceasing chattering of the mind,
we are always silent. He also explains
what happens when the Master dies. The
compilation ends with a devotional song in
praise of the Lord Krishna, under the
names of Govindas and Gopala.
Dialogues with Papaji, a direct disciple

IT'S
SO SIMPLE!
"When you think, the mind is
playing and you are not free. Don't stir
up, don't give rise to any thought. Also,
do not make any effort to stop the
thought. And then you are there, you see.
So simple!"
Poonja explains the meaning of "keeping
quiet". He also talks about love and
surrender which happens the way a river
abandons itself into the ocean and loses
all identification. The true Guru never
gives orders. The look of the sage is
enough to make one see the Truth. The veil
between you and God is only doubt. Remove
this doubt and what do you see? This DVD
ends with a song which praises the meeting
between Poonjaji and his Master, Ramana
Maharshi, at the foot of Arunachala.
Dialogues with Papaji, a direct disciple
of Ramana Maharshi, were daily. Through
his presence, his words, and his powerful

MAYA
"To cross this ocean of suffering
called samsara, you must have a raft.
Satsang is this raft. Once you are on this
raft, you need do nothing and nothing can
bother you. The secret of satsang is
revealed in this split-second. All desires
are fulfilled not abandoned
but fulfilled. Nothing more is desired.
You have it all."
According to Papaji, maya is "all that
is and all that is not... the complete
illusion in imagination." And with total,
absolute, 100% watchfulness it is possible
to see maya for what it truly is. With
this awareness, with this attention to the
experiencer without reliance on any
practice, any method, or to any past or
future achievements, you will discover in
this split-second, who you really are. The
secret of true happiness is revealed in
this knowledge.

ARUNACHALA GIRIPRADAKSHINA
1
DVD
A complete circumambulation of one of
India's most sacred mountains
to the melodic singing of Sri Ramana
Maharshi's Five Hymns to Sri
Arunachala.
The mountain Arunachala is situated
125 miles south-west of Madras in the
State of Tamil Nadu in India. It is famous
throughout India as perhaps the most
sacred place in the world, and now in the
West as the home of Bhagavan Sri Ramana
Maharshi known as 'The Sage of
Arunachala'.
Arunachala Giripradakshina was
created for devotees who enjoy going
around Arunachala and the Monday evening
Tamil recitation [parayana] at Sri
Ramanasramam. It contains footage of
Arunachala, filmed between 2000 and 2005,
taken from 72 different locations around
the Giripradakshina outer path, the inner
path, the eight most important shrines
[Ashtalingams] and the Deepam
beacon being lit at the summit of
Arunachala.
To perform Giripradakshina [going
around the mountain in a clockwise
direction] with mind fixed on
Arunachala, is said to be the most
spiritually beneficial act that anyone can
perform in their lifetime. The captivating
power of Arunachala, even to complete
strangers who know nothing about it, is
legendary. Just to be there brings silence
to the rampant mind; to meditate on it
brings liberation. This DVD is dedicated
to those who seek true freedom.
Ishwara said:
I truly abide here on earth in the
form of an effulgence named Arunachala for
bestowing the attainment of
liberation.
Since this hill removes the cruel
heap of sins from all the worlds, and
since bondage [runa] becomes
non-existent when one sees it, it is named
Arunachala.
In ancient days, when a fight arose
between Brahma and Vishnu, who were both
born from a part of me, I manifested
myself in the form of an effulgence in
order to remove their delusion.
At their further request I, who was
in the form of an effulgence, became the
motionless linga named
Arunachala.

RAMANA MAHARSHI

DVD
THE
ARCHIVAL FILMS | 1935 TO
1950
If we reflect on the spiritual Masters
that most influenced the last hundred
years, Sri Ramana Maharshi stands out as
one of the greatest seers of our age. More
than sixty years after he shed his mortal
frame, ever more seekers from around the
world are turning to the sage of
Arunachala for guidance and grace.
From 1935 to 1950 a number of visitors to
Sri Ramanasramam took films of the
Maharshi in his ashram. Taken mostly by
his devotees, these films give us a rare
glimpse into the life of a fully
enlightened sage who, in the 20th century,
lived liked the illumined rishis of
yore.
The series of films has been arranged in
chronological order, starting November 29,
1935 and ending on April 15, 1950. Over
the years these films were subjected to
the climatic extremes of southern India,
which caused considerable film
deterioration.
In 1990, the complete collection of
archival films were brought to the USA for
restoration, preservation and editing. In
all of the film footage, only two sections
were professionally produced by the Indian
Information Bureau as newsreels and shown
in cinema houses throughout India.
These films are a visual documentary of
the eternal Truth embodied in a man made
perfect by virtue of a unique destiny.
Spiritual freedom, eternal peace and joy
can be realised by those earnest seekers
whose destinies are linked to the sage of
Arunachala, Sri Ramana Maharshi.

simple and ordinary existence because,
having understood the illusory nature of
things, he lived in detachment and joy

tradition. I gave the transmission of this
yoga in a spirit of helping all beings, as
much on the contingent as on the ultimate

of the Buddhas of the ten directions. May
they be an immense source of benefit and
of happiness for all the spiritual
traditions of our world and for all
beings."

THE MESSAGE OF THE TIBETANS
2 FILMS ON 1 DVD
BUDDHISM
TANTRISM
A
film by Arnaud
Desjardins
Arnaud Desjardins [1925-2011]
met His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the
first time in 1963 and gained his support
to shoot these two films. All the most
revered Masters agreed to participate in
the making of the films: the Dalai Lama in
person, Kyabdje Trijang Rinpoche, Kyabdje
Ling Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche,
Dudjom Rinpoche, the XVIth Gyalwa Karmapa
, Dugpa Tupse Rinpoche, Chatral Rinpoche,
The Yogis Abo Rinpoche and Lopon Sonam
Zangpo, the Sakya Lama Trizin, Tai Situ
Rinpoche and Shamar Rinpoche still
adolescent, and many others eminent
Masters.
"I am delighted to have been able to
watch the English version of The Message
of the Tibetans, which consists of a film
shot by Arnaud Desjardins in 1965 and
1967. It provides us with a living
document of some of the great Masters then
living and also of children who as adults
today have the responsibility of carrying
on the Tibetan tradition. I myself was
only thirty at the time and like most of
my compatriots had little experience of
the outside world. However, we were all
determined to work hard to preserve our
unique culture, particularly our rich
Buddhist heritage. Today, when we look
back, we can note with satisfaction the
achievements we have made in educating our
young people and preserving our cultural
traditions and values at at time when they
are under threat of extinction in our
homeland. Tibetan culture, as this film
shows, places great importance to
compassion and nonviolence. It is because
of these essential humane values that I
feel that we have a contribution to make
to peace in the world. So, the Tibetans'
message is that it is not the possession
of wealth and weapons, but whether you
have patience, compassion and concern for
others that is the source of peace
and happiness."

J. KRISHNAMURTI
2
PARTS ON 1 DVD
THE
NATURE OF THE MIND | DVD
1
April
16 18, 1982
Four discussions took place in Ojai,
California between the religious
philosopher J. Krishnamurti, the physicist
David Bohm, the biologist Rupert Sheldrake
and the psychiatrist John Hidley. The
purpose of these discussions is to explore
essential questions about the mind: What
is psychological disorder and what is
required for fundamental psychological
change? Is it possible to understand the
mind, the nature of consciousness, its
relationship with human suffering and the
potential for change?
PART
1 | THE ROOTS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL
DISORDER
PART 2 | PSYCHOLOGICAL
SUFFERING
In these first two parts consideration has
been given to the process of
self-identification. A range of subjects
have been related to this process
including the problem of suffering, the
role of thinking and memory, images and
the uniqueness or commonality of
consciousness. Can these processes be
observed and what is the relationship of
observation to order, responsibility and
change? They discuss whether it is
possible to live in this world without
conflict and whether the need for
psychological security is the root of all
one's problems? They explore what is meant
by security and try to discover why we get
hurt. They discuss how we have an image of
ourselves and take it to be 'me', take it
to be real. From that, arises the
fundamental question: whether it is
possible not to have images at all? So,
what am I, what are you and what is each
one of us? They ask why do we want to
'become' and whether it is not just an
escape from what is? They conclude by
stating that as long as there is this
divisive process of life, there must be
conflict. In division there is isolation,
in isolation there is no security and
therefore there is no order.

PART
3 | THE NEED FOR SECURITY
PART 4 | WHAT IS A HEALTHY
MIND?
In these last two parts, they begin the
discussion by seeing whether there is
there such a thing as absolute
psychological security and try to discover
what it is that makes people ask for
security? They discuss loneliness, the
desire to be free from fear, anxiety and
agony. They ask that If one really loves,
is there a need for security? It is
proposed that maybe unconsciously we know
that the self is really totally unstable
in its nature and therefore there is this
anxiety for security and as a result we
seek something absolute which gives
complete contentment? Krishnamurti remarks
that when there is perception of that
which is true, that very truth is
sufficient. They then look into the nature
of thought, at the difference between
attention and inattention and inquire into
analysis and observation. They ask the
questions: what does 'being' mean? Is it
the opposite to 'becoming'? Does 'being'
imply 'non-movement', which is without
thought and time?

THE
CHALLENGE OF CHANGE
A
biographical film of J.
Krishnamurti
The
Challenge of Change is the compelling
story of a great religious teacher of the
20th century, from his childhood discovery
in 1909 to his lifelong talks with large
audiences in most parts of the world until
his death in 1986.
Through the Theosophical Society of which
she was the President, Annie Besant, who
had adopted him and his brother,
proclaimed Krishnamurti to be the World
Teacher who had been historically foretold
and expected by the Society. Krishnamurti
rejected any special status when he
dissolved the Order of the Star that had
been set up around him, declaring that
"Truth is a Pathless Land", and denying
that there could be any authority in
religious matters.
This remarkable story, told through
archival film and photographs, is a
valuable introduction to Krishnamurti's
life and teaching. There are excerpts from
his many talks, as well as an interview
made for the film. He spoke not as a
Master, but as one who called for the
awakening of intelligence in all human
beings.

ENDING
ALL FEAR
Four
Public Talks in San Diego,
1970
In these four talks, given in San Diego in
1970, Krishnamurti discusses the human
condition and the structure of fear. He
asks us to see if, while living in this
world with so much chaos and division, we
can find out what that source of the
violence is and what we can do about
it.
Can we get to the root of fear and end it
and without analysis, which
involves time and thought and merely
escapes from facing the fact? Is there an
observation of all this without an
observer preventing direct perception of
the reality of the conditions in which we
live and which we are? In awareness,
listening with attention, can we discover
what meditation is and see life as a whole
that includes death as well as love?

DEATH
Conversation
with Buddhist scholars and teachers at
Brockwood Park,
1979
participants | J. Krishnamurti, Dr.
Rahula, Feros Mehta, Dr. Parchure, Mr.
Narayan and four teachers from Brockwood
Park School in Hampshire, England.
"There is no division between life
and death. When the body dies, the
desires, the anxieties, the tragedies and
the misery go on. They go on contributing
to the vast common stream in which mankind
lives. Each of us is representative of the
whole of that stream."
J. Krishnamurti and the participants
investigate together the topic of death.
Each person goes through the same
tragedies, misfortunes humanity is
one. Then, is there life after death? What
is death? Who dies? What happens to the
flow of emotions, to the name and form,
and to the body after death? Is there
anything which has not been created by
man? Is it possible to be free from the
manifested flow of emotions, name, form
and body? "To find out what death is one
has to live with it. Thought has created
religious illusions, but insight is beyond
thought. Insight is of freedom."
"By
enquiring into the whole nature of
suffering can X end it and be out of the
stream ? The free enquiry into suffering
is insight. As long as I accept any
authority, Buddhist or otherwise, can
there be insight?"

TALK
1 | IN THE PRESENT MOMENT IS THE
WHOLE OF TIME
TALK 2 | AT THE END OF SORROW IS
PASSION
Two Public Talks in Washington, DC on
April 20 & 21,
1985
Although Krishnamurti had spoken for
many years in the United States, he had
never given public talks in Washington,
D.C. In 1985, he agreed to do so and met
on two days in April of that year with
large audiences from diverse
backgrounds.
There is a feeling in these two talks that
Krishnamurti was communicating as much as
possible of the teachings which he had
been giving in many parts of the world for
over sixty years. Once more he invited his
audience to 'walk together, investigate
together, look together at the world we
have created'. In a revealing manner
unique to Krishnamurti the talks go into
the various factors of human consciousness
playing a dominant role in our daily life.
At the age of ninety, Krishnamurti spoke
from the fullness of his insight and
teaching.

SERIES
ON EDUCATION
Five
dialogues between J. Krishnamurti and
students in England and India,
1983-1985
In this series of discussions, many of the
students questions and comments are
refreshingly blunt and guileless. There is
a tremendous sense of affection as
Krishnamurti explores their questions in
ways that relate to the childrens
own lives.
They talk about intelligence, security,
meditation and concentration, the value of
education and learning, and even God.
Although denying being the teacher,
Krishnamurti shows the quality of true
teaching which lies in the relationship
between the educator and the student.
Often, at the end of the discussion, he
invites the students to sit quietly with
him for a few minutes.

thinking?
When there is no tomorrow pyschologically,
what happens to the quality of your mind?
Then what is your relationship to

WE TOGETHER CREATE A GOOD
SOCIETY?
Second
Public Talk at Saanen in Switzerland,

When we think together, is there a
sense of fulfilment, division or
frustration? What happens to
relationship? If there is no psychological
time at all, what is relationship between
people?
Do you say, "I will love you
tomorrow"?
Will belief or authority bring us
together? Is there security in
separateness?
When we think together, out of that will
be created a good society.
A good society can only come into being
when you are responsible for another.

Has the desire for security
psychologically taken over physical

ideal, experience? Can you listen so
completely that you see the absurdity of
living in illusion and end it?
Can we stay with fact and have no
relationship to non-fact? What is the
quality of the mind which is facing what
is happening?
If you have no mental images, then what is
your relationship to the mind which is
seeking security?

Sixth
Public Talk at Saanen in Switzerland,

Is there one insight that will bring total
revolution in each of us?
Aren't the outer and inner indivisible,
one structural movement of thought? Is
there one perception that frees man
completely from this psychological
structure?
In knowledge, is there ignorance?
Intelligence is free from ignorance, and
therefore from illusion, and is not the
result of knowledge.

HOW
CAN THE BRAIN TRANSFORM
ITSELF?
First
Public Talk at Brockwood Park in England
on August 27, 1983
In this first public talk, J.
Krishnamurti explores whether it is
possible to bring about a mutation in the
very brain cells themselves conditioned
for thousands of years? Either one says
that it is not possible and closes the
door or one says, "I really don't
know."
Without any choice, am I aware that my
brain is conditioned? He goes on to
explore the nature of conditioning, which
he says is essentially made up of
experience and knowledge.
Why is the structure of the psyche
essentially based on knowledge and what am
I without memory? He concludes with the
topic of whether it is possible to live
psychologically without memories, and
points out that the division between
memory and the observer creates
conflict.

ONLY
IN PEACE CAN THE HUMAN MIND BE
FREE
Second
Public Talk at Brockwood Park in England
on August 28, 1983
J. Krishnamurti begins this second
public talk with the question: why cannot
man, who has learned so much, live in
peace? Is it because each individual
separate soul is struggling and seeking
for his or her own fulfillment? Must human
beings, who think they are separate, each
seeking his or her own form of security
inevitably come into conflict with
others?
He elaborates on the subject of
relationship and asks the public whether
it is possible in a close relationship,
where there is a sense of affection, to
live without conflict and turmoil? He then
asks, can one live with another completely
at peace and how do 'you' observe your
relationship with another?
He ends the talk on the topic of looking
and observing without any identity. He
asks if this is at all possible and
whether one can look at life not as a
problem, but with a mind that is free from
problems?

FREEDOM

Third
Public Talk at Brockwood Park in England
on September 3,

In this third public talk, J.
Krishnamurti explores the movement from
"what is" to "what should be" the
psychological process of time and
asks whether it is one of the causes of
fear? Realising that possibility, even
intellectually, is it then possible to end
fear?
He moves on to the subject of sorrow and
says that sorrow is part of the continuity
of memory. Can that memory, not only of my
sorrow but of mankind's sorrow come to an
end?
He then goes on to explore the possibility
of living without any cause or future. He
asks that if one was able to go beyond
time, would there be anything to
experience? Can the 'self', the 'me', the
'ego' all the self-centered
activity which is the movement of
memory, can that end?

Fourth

The questions and topics explored by J.
Krishnamurti during this fourth public
talk are the following: What is creation?
What is the origin of all existence? Was
there a beginning and is there an end to
all this?
To uncover the origin what kind of brain
does one need? Is there a brain without
self-interest? Have we a brain that
doesn't belong to anything so that it is
completely free?
Does language condition the brain? What is
meditation, and what is order? Is
meditation the feeling of complete
wholeness and unity of life?

First

Can the cause of conflict be analysed? Is

energy.
Can one have an insight into the cause of
conflict? Is the cause the division
between what I am and what I should be?
Can only the few be free of it?
What is this enormous energy of thought?
Thought can imagine the limitless, but in
itself it is always limited. Do you try to
find out what thinking is or do you

Is there a freedom per se, for itself and

Are we at all aware of the great suffering
of humanity, of each one of us? Is there

comes when there is self-centred pursuit.
If one is completely free from all sorrow
